Any leader who wants a legacy to be remembered for cements his/her reputation on development and not the imposition of yes men/women to act as his tools and stooges after their departure from power and if any lesson is to be learnt in this front, Olusegun Obasanjo stands as an institution of index as to how men over the years have failed in imposing their stooges as continuation of their political influence and power.
Ahmadu Ahidjo tried it in the Cameroons and it earned him an ignoble death sentence from the man Biya whom he (Ahidjo) thought was going to do his biddings after his stint in Cameroonian politics. J B Danquah tried it in Ghana and created an Nkrumah and Awolowo tried it in the West and he got himself an Akintola, Zik tried it in the East and got himself an Opara.
The court system rescued Oshiomole from the hands of Anenih and those who stole his mandate and in an about face, Oshiomole in his attempt to acting God has turned himself into a marauding beast attacking the judiciary in all fronts by cancelling elections that does not fit his prism. Leadership in Nigeria, becomes questionable when people never learn from past experience. If Oshiomole is a smart politician, he should know that nobody (not even presidents or head of states have ever succeeded in installing stooges as successors) because they become their own men quicker than you will call change of government. Power is effervescent and we all need it and if anybody is stupid to think he /she can wield power outside power, ask Obasanjo who is fortunate to have tried it thrice.
